From winding mountain roads to glass platforms hanging over deep fjords, Norway does dramatic scenery like nowhere else. Here’s our personal countdown of the most breathtaking viewpoints we visited:

#5 – Fjellstua Viewpoint, Ålesund
Climb (we cheated and drove up) the Aksla steps up to the Fjellstua Viewpoint for a panoramic view of Ålesund—a town that might just win the title of Norway’s prettiest. The 360° view from the top shows the iconic image of the town of Alesund, where buildings are seeking out the sea. A picture-perfect intro to Norway’s coastal charm.

#4 – Stegastein Viewpoint, Aurlandsfjord
Perched high above the Aurlandsfjord near Flåm, the Stegastein Viewpoint offers more than just a beautiful photo op—it’s where the concept of a fjord truly clicks. For those that are unsure of what a fjord actually is , you can clearly see how massive glaciers once carved deep valleys into the mountains, later filled with water as they melted. It’s nature’s geology lesson, brought to life.
That said, what sticks with me most is the journey to the viewpoint. The road is a tight, twisting stretch full of sharp hairpin bends, and traffic gets tricky with large tour buses ferrying cruise ship passengers up and down. At times, buses had to reverse on narrow sections, turning what should’ve been a 30-minute drive into an hour-long test of patience. Just a heads-up to fellow travelers: leave a little buffer in your schedule!

#3 – Mount Ulriken, Bergen
For views that make you feel like you’re on top of the world, head up Mount Ulriken—Bergen’s highest peak. Fewer crowds, sweeping views of fjords, valleys, and the charming city below. On a clear day, you can see mountain tops stretch into the horizon. Its easy to see why hermits might’ve picked places like this to find life’s answers.

#2 – Trollstigen (Troll’s Path)
From the top, you see dramatic switchbacks winding their way up bright green valleys, waterfalls cascading down cliffs, and rugged mountains all around. It’s the kind of view that has you reaching for the camera and clicking in vain to capture the magic

#1 – Ørnesvingen Viewpoint, Geirangerfjord
Drumroll, please… 🥁
Our favorite viewpoint in Norway: Ørnesvingen Viewpoint, Geirangerfjord
Also known as the “Eagle Bend,” Ørnesvingen delivers that wow moment. From this glass platform jutting out of the cliffside, you can spot the famous Seven Sisters waterfall, cruise ships drifting like toys below, and see ancient farms somehow clinging to steep mountainsides. Snow-flecked peaks meet lush green valleys and the deep, glacial blue of Geirangerfjord. Just… stunning.
