»People who assume that every David is a Dave, and every Edward is an Ed and every William is a Bill!!

»CNN reporters who smugly inform the clueless American public that the war on Iraq was a big success…. although they could not get Saddam or WMD.

»Guys especially students, who moan about lack of aid and job prospects and yet insist on being “chivalrous” and paying for dinner for a female even though she is earning and offers to pay!

»Having 5 deadlines in a space of 15 days.

»It is mid-April, the flowers are already blooming and yet the temperature outside is still 40F.

»Sight of a female who is young and has a baby on one hip and a cigarette in her other hand, puffing away to glory

»People who take a look at my bookshelves, observe all my books ( it is categorized into various sections like thrillers, poetry, feminism, humor, romance , writings from Indian subcontinent, inspirational etc) and then pounce on the one silly romance novel that I have and comment disparagingly “Ah!! So you read this kind of trash do you”

»The “you have got mail” sign on yahoo that make me check the inbox eagerly only to find it is from Editor Bob…Damn him he sends me a mail twice a day!!

»The statement on my colleagues table which says “”Americans have the right and advantage of being armed unlike citizens of other countries whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.” Bullshit is what I reply to that….That’s what causes sniper attacks, columbine tragedy and several other “accidents”.

»People who get babies to a crowded theatre /concert and look around with a “what to do expression” when the baby decided to exercise its vocal chords

After a long long time…

Isn’t there something cool about old friends meeting??

This weekend Vidya and I talked late into the night with total disregard to the time, roamed around the streets of Philadelphia as though it was apna Mumbai, flouted traffic conventions and leaped across the roads at whim, went on a horse and carriage ride, met Vidya’s ex colleague ,ate out, discussed inlaws ( to put it in a politically correct perspective) , giggled over our worser halves, missed the rest of our V-V group, saw two movies again…(dil chahta hai and saathiya) , oohed over Vivek Oberoi, forgot stuff at home and consequently missed trains…..finally managed to catch a train to Virginia, drove around the beautiful Virginia landscapes, saw Luray Caverns, saw a belly dancer show ,re-gossipped about our engg class, indulged in nostalgia , , , and then parted early Monday morning with plans to meet again….

It was one helluva weekend….Vidya and I met after a long time: after almost 3.5 years. We did meet briefly for 2 days in Dec 2001 , but then we had Eashwer and Seejo with us so it doesn’t really really count!!! When we were doing our B.E, we were together for most of the day….We used to meet at 7.30 in the morning on the Bombay Central platform to catch our train to DJS, be together the whole day…come home in the evening, stand outside her building for an hour discussing the day and then go back home to call each other up and talk some more. And of course there were plenty of sleepovers ostensibly to study but spent talking about everything else in the world other than studies.

We made up for the past three years in these three days!!
