We saw many castles in UK. Here are some of my favorite things about each castle
Tower of London

The Tower of London
The tower of London was built in the first century to commemorate Norman victory of England.  Over the past 1000 years, this tower has had a long and interesting history. At various times it has been a royal palace, a prison,  as a palace, a prison, a fort,  a place for executions, a treasury, a war hospital and also hosted a menagerie including polar bears that were fishing in the Thames and now it is the home of the British crown Jewels.
Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle is the active residence of the Queen who uses this as her weekend residence. It is for all intents and purposes a working castle with an active staff. St. George’s Chapel – where the last two Rpyal weddings were held is also on the Castle grounds.
Urquhart Castle

Urquhart Castle
Urquhart Castle was one of the rare castles that was not a royal residence or fort. Situated on the banks of the Loch Ness, it commands an amazing view.
Eilean Donan Castle

Eilean Donan Castle
Without doubt, the most picturesque castle that we saw. What made it more endearing was a wonderful old gentleman, who chatted with Annika for a long time and dubbed her a honorary scot with the clan name of McAnnika. The castle had some interesting spy holes that could be used to view different rooms.
Doune Castle

Doune Castle
It wasn’t a spectacular castle or a very large one by any means but it is a very familiar one. It was where the popular Outlander series and Monty Python was shot.
Stirling

Stirling Castle
Stirling Castle plays an important role in Scottish history , especially in the story of Queen Mary, Queen of Scots. Her story was fascinating, especially when we got to hear the “Englishâ€version that we heard at Westminster Abbey (her tomb is there) & the Scottish version at Stirling.
Edinburgh

Edinburgh Castle
Of all the castles we saw, Edinburgh Castle was the largest and most awe inspiring castle . The sprawling complex has a royal apartments, great halls, an old chapel – St. Margaret’s Chapel and a one- o clock gun that is fired precisely at 1:00 stunning unsuspecting tourists.
